When this drone is shipped to you, make sure it has a 2.4GHz controller, two 650mAh batteries, four propeller guards, four pieces of landing gear, ten screws, user manual, a screwdriver and a charging cable. Of course, the drone itself is also present.
Design, build and physical features
If it looks good and flies good, there is no reason why you should not have it. And KOOME mini drone has more than enough of both the looks and functionality.
First thing you should know, this drone is foldable. That means it is easy to pack and carry with you when you want to fly it outdoors. The rotor arms are foldable so that it’s size reduces to a smaller, more compact size.
This drone measures 15.4 by 7.9 by 10.2 inches. This is a bit too big, making the KOOME drone a sizeable one. With nice black matte color and an orange star on the back, this drone really looks very stylish. It weighs a 550g and therefore you would have to register it with the FAA, and to do that you must be at least 13 years old.
Camera
This drone comes with a 720P video camera. Surprisingly, it takes nice and clear videos, especially when the drone is not flying too fast. Since the drone does not have a slot for microSD card, the videos are stored in your smartphone (there is a holder for your smartphone on the controller). Also, from the smartphone, you are going to enjoy nice first person view. The FPV app is going to work on android or iOS devices. You will also enjoy taking nice photos and storing them in your smartphone.
Batteries and flight time
The KOOME mini drone comes with two, 3.7V 650mAh batteries, which is a good move. One battery can give you 14 minutes of flight time. Thus, two of them give you at least 25 minutes. That is better flying time as compared to many other drones in this price range. Since the batteries take only 80 minutes to charge, you can see that you will not have to wait too long to fly your drone.
With the controller, the flight range is 120 meters and for video transmission, the range is 100 meters, which are both pretty impressive.
Flight features
To assist in the flight, this drone comes with many features. One of them is the one-key takeoff and landing. Although it has become quite the standard feature for many drones, it is still a nice feature to have. You punch the button and the drone initiates take-off or landing process.
Headless mode enables you to fly the drone regardless of the direction the nose faces. Drones can look alike all round, so for beginners, knowing where the nose is can be a bit confusing. With headless mode, you do not have to worry about that.
One feature that makes this mini drone good for beginners is the three speed setting. As a beginner, fly it on low speed and then build up as you get more skill.
