Rarely do you find a foldable quadcopter with a 4K HD camera selling at such a low price, but the ZLRC SG107 is one of them. For less than $40, you can have this feature-rich toy-class drone.
When ordering this quad, you will have three camera options to consider. One of them is the 4K WiFi camera, which is the most affordable, but it hardly takes 4K footage. Then there is the 1080P optical flow camera version that is slightly more expensive. Finally, you can order the one with the 4K Optical Flow camera at just about the same price as the 1080P one.
You also have the option of buying the quadcopter with a bag or a box. With a bag, it costs more but it is worth it because it makes storage and traveling easier. If you order the one with the box, you might need to buy a bag in future to travel with the SG107.
ZLRC SG107 Features & Technical Details
No one is going to spend their hard-earned money on toy class drones if they do not have the features to justify the price.
Here are the features and flight functions that make it fun to fly:
Design and Build Quality
This is a small, folding and toy-class drone. It measures 11 by 8.7 by 2.2 inches when expanded. When you fold it, it measures 4.7 by 3.0 by 2.2 inches, which is small enough to fit in your pants or jacket pocket. The take off weight is well below the threshold for registering with the FAA, so you can just fly it right out of the box.
The hull material is ABS plastic. Although this material feels a bit thin on this drone, it is still high quality and does not crack easily. The electronic parts are well protected in the interior.
The color is gray. The two LED eyes/lights on either side of the head give this quadcopter the appearance of a bug. The V-shape stretching from the head and meeting somewhere in the middle of the body makes this quad quite appealing.
Camera Quality
You will get a dual camera – the nose one and the bottom one. You can switch intermittently from one camera to another from the remote controller. The essence of having two cameras is to give you the best view from all angles.
The nose camera has a wide field of view at 120°. For the nose camera, you can get three resolutions. For photos, you can get the 1920 by 1080P or the 4096 by 3072P. For video, you will get 1920 by 1080P or 2048 by 1080P.
The bottom camera has resolution of 1280 by 720P for photos and 2048 by 1080P for videos.
You will also enjoy a good FPV experience on your mobile phone, most likely with a resolution of 720P. The FPV transmission distance is 80 meters. You can be able to see what the drone can see from either the nose or the bottom camera.
Battery and Flight Time
The ZLRC SG107 comes with a 3.7V 1200mAh battery that will give you a flight time of 15 minutes. Mostly, we figure that the time is usually exaggerated but if you can get 13 minutes, it would be good enough.
The battery charges with a USB cable that is provided. Charging time is from 180 minutes, so you will eventually have to buy a second and or even a third battery for more flight time.
This battery is safe to handle, easy to insert and remove from the drone. It stays securely in place so there is no risk of it falling off when your drone crashes or when it is in flight. It is recommended that you remove the battery when you know you will not use the drone for sometime.
Remote Controller
With the small, lightweight and uniquely designed transmitter, we can say that ZLRC outdid themselves. The design is very appealing!
You will find keys for important functions such as emergency stop (marked in red), one key takeoff and landing, photo, video, return, speed control, headless mode and 3D tumbling. There are also the usual joysticks, which control the left, right, forward and backward trims.
The smartphone holder is in the remote controller arms, which seem to extend from the body. This makes the transmitter’s body quite slim and lightweight. It can fit different types of smartphones.
You will need to buy two AAA batteries, which should be easy to get in the local stores.
Flight Functions
As a toy-class drone, it needs to have various automated functions. These are also fun to use for both beginner and advanced users.
They are as follows:
Optical Flow Dual Positioning
The word dual here means that the quadcopter has a horizontal position locator and a fixed vertical height that is held by air pressure.
You can get two things here. One of them is precision hovering, which enables you to concentrate on capturing good footage. The second thing is that you will always know where your quad is all the time.
Gesture Shooting
This is one of the best fun features to have in any drone with a camera. When you show it the victory sign, it will come closer – 1.5 to 3 meters and start capturing photos from there.
You can also show it the palm sign to start capturing videos. Gesture shooting enables you to take group photos and videos easily.
Headless Mode
When you are a beginner at flying drones, you always wonder where the nose is facing especially when the drone is flying at maximum range. However, when you engage headless mode, the quadcopter realigns itself according to the position of the pilot.
Follow Me
This is another way to fly the drone hands-free. Just engage Follow Me mode and it will lock onto you, and follow maintaining the same distance all the time. If you increase speed, it flies faster and vice versa.
MV Effects
Quadcopters do not record sound with their videos. However, with MV effects, you can add music and sound effects on your videos here. Just access the MV effects feature in the app.
Track Flight
Open the app and access the map interface. Choose the areas where you would like the quad to fly over and then connect them with a line. The SG107 will fly right over that route when you launch it.
Short Summary of Feedback from Existing Owners
The price is quite good for a drone with such features and functions. The carry bag is a bonus and the camera works as advertised. Runda W.
I think this drone should cost more than this, but it is a good deal. One of my friends who has it complains that his sometimes has issues connecting with WiFi/App. Mine has not given me such trouble. Rymack H.
Glad that you can order the bag version and the camera version that suits your budget. This is a good drone but I am yet to get a spare battery. Walter H.
I don’t think this is a 4K camera at all, but it takes decent photos and videos when you shoot outdoors during the day. Mike L.
I cannot seem to get spare parts for this drone and I have already broken two propellers. If someone knows where I can get them, let me know. Kevin W.
I bought my ZLRC SG107 with everything, including the bag. The only thing I could not find was a spare battery but I will keep looking. Aron K.

Who Should Buy The ZLRC SG107?
This toy-class quadcopter is a good purchase for beginner pilots. It is affordable. Therefore, if you have one or two kids whom you would like to impress on their birthday you can order one for each without denting your wallet.
If you like more flight stability and faster speed, you might want to pass this. You might also want to know that despite the 4K tag, rarely will you be able to capture 4K footage.
Conclusion and Recommendation
When choosing a toy-class quadcopter for yourself or to gift someone, consider the price and the functions.
With this one, you will get more than enough value for money, but it also has some downsides. For example, you can only use it for your hobbyist photography – no professional or amateur shots.
If you fly this quad in the wind, rest assured it will fly away and never come back. Also, start by flying it indoors because the app is a bit skittish.
Fly the ZLRC SG107 in a wide and open space. Also, fly it in clear weather to capture good footage.
